Description

This event will include a showcase of apps submitted to Hack My Ride 2.0, which offers $30,000 in prizes and challenged technologists in Silicon Valley and around the globe to create technology that will transform how we get around in Silicon Valley.

Visit hackmyride2.devpost.com to learn more about the contest and see the submissions.

We asked participants to go beyond transit trip planners and create innovative user experiences that haven't been tried before. We asked them to consider beacons, wearables, crowdsourcing and brilliant data visualizations.

We particularly encouraged the use of beacon technology we're currently testing the Great Mall Transit Center and on our Express Buses. Beacons have applications for wayfinding, location-based communications, accessibility for visually impaired people, loyalty programs and games that enhance the transit and mobility experience.

VTA thanks Microsoft Silicon Valley, Knight Foundation, The Tech Museum of Innovation, Joint Venture Silicon Valley, and Code for San Jose for making Hack My Ride 2.0 possible!
